Turning Climate Action into Opportunity: New Video Series Explains How ISFL Works

The World Bank’s BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) has launched a new three-part animated video series that brings its mission to life — showing how climate finance can drive both environmental protection and inclusive, sustainable growth.

Across Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Mexico, and Zambia, ISFL supports programs that reduce emissions by protecting forests, restoring degraded land, and promoting sustainable agriculture. Each country designs and leads its own approach, guided by rigorous systems that measure, verify, and reward real results.

The three videos together explain how it all works:

1. Building a Sustainable Future

The first video introduces ISFL’s approach — helping countries balance economic growth and environmental protection. It explains how verified emission reductions become high-quality carbon credits that countries can sell, channeling new financing back into communities and sustainable land use.

2. Measuring What Matters

The second video explores ISFL’s Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system — the backbone of its integrity. Using satellites, drones, and advanced data analytics, ISFL helps countries measure emissions accurately, report transparently, and ensure every reduction is independently verified before credits are issued.

3. Sharing the Benefits

The third video highlights ISFL’s focus on inclusion. It shows how benefit-sharing plans ensure that revenue from carbon credit sales flows back to local communities — funding projects that reduce poverty, support sustainable agriculture, and empower vulnerable groups to participate in climate action.

Together, the videos tell the story of partnership, trust, and transformation — where verified results lead to real benefits for people and nature.
