ISFL aims to help rural communities address poverty and develop sustainably while simultaneously reducing land-based greenhouse gas emissions. To accomplish these goals, ISFL programs seek to build on experience, leverage partnerships, incentivize results, and emphasize working at scale.

The four key pillars of the ISFL—private sector engagement, gender and social inclusion, technical capacity building, and strengthening program design—are at the heart of the initiative’s work on sustainable land use.
Integrated Land Use
ISFL understands the need for new tools and approaches to address deforestation, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. Building on momentum at the international, national, and subnational levels, climate-smart land use approaches—applied across agriculture, forestry, and other land use sectors—offer innovative and effective solutions to address the multifaceted challenges of deforestation and land use change. ISFL is working to bring these approaches to the forefront, convene stakeholders, and disseminate best practices and lessons learned.
Knowledge Center
The ISFL promotes and shares technical information, guidance materials, and lessons learned from its work to support further scaling and replication of sustainable land use initiatives.
